Posters will be available for public viewing throughout the conference, and graduate students are expected to be present from 5:15 pm to 7:15 pm on Wednesday, May 15th, during which time judges will visit the posters. Winners will be announced on Thursday, May 16th, and awards will be presented to winners as follows:

  • Second place - $300
  • Third place - $200

Oral Presentation Competition

Abstracts for the poster competition will automatically be considered for an oral presentation at the conference. One abstract will be presented in each of the ruminant and monogastric sections. The winners will be invited to give a 15-minute (12 minute presentation + 3 minutes for questions) oral presentation. The selected student will be informed by April 5th, 2019 and will have their registration and travel expenses to the conference paid by the conference. The winner will be asked to provide an expanded abstract (2 pages) that will be published in the conference proceedings. Students who do not wish to be considered for the oral presentation should specifically state this at the time of their abstract submission.

For those wishing to participate in the oral competition, a letter of recommendation from the academic department or academic supervisor must be provided by the submission deadline in addition to the abstract.

Students are invited to submit an abstract by March 4th, 2019 to Dr. Elijah Kiarie, Department of Animal Biosciences, University of Guelph at
